Programmes - Grenada Sport & Wellbeing Foundation

The Grenada Sports & Wellbeing Foundation along with The Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martnique

Objectives: ‘ To promote more players’ involvement,to develop skills and mostly to have fun.’

The Foundation Phase is the period of development where the fundamental work of creating top level players will occur. Our object is to have highly technical, confident and robust children by the age of 12. From this point onward players will then be introduced to the psychological and tactical elements of the game as well as position specification.

During their time in the Foundation Phase players will be encouraged to experiment, make mistakes, be creative and build a love of learning and criteria to avoid the issue of picking early developers or player with a physical advantage.

The mixture of technical, and game play sessions will provide a comprehensive learning environment where players will be challenged to develop their technique across all areas. On top of this and encouraging a mini-league environment, will mean that players enjoy match days and the opportunity to showcase their skills and improvement. Equal playing time, individual learning objectives and emphasis on good learner attitude will build a large pool of players who are enthused to continue along the development pathway.
